Turning Back the Clock

Xeomin & Botox

We all reach a point in life where we have to admit to ourselves that lines and wrinkles are starting to become prominent on our once youthful faces. Rather than let an aging appearance affect your self-confidence, happiness and sense of well-being, consider these viable options from a trusted local practitioner.

Xeomin and Botox are two of the most popular and effective treatments for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the face. Xeomin is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, which is injected into the skin to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles. Botox is a similar product made from a different type of botulinum toxin. Both products are FDA-approved and have been proven to be safe and effective.

At Skin Deep NB, we offer Xeomin and Botox treatments to help you look and feel your best. Our experienced and licensed practitioner will work with you to determine the best treatment plan for your individual needs. He will discuss the benefits and risks of each product, and help you decide which one is right for you.

Xeomin & Botox

More About Xeomin

Xeomin is a botulinum toxin type A injection that is FDA approved to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It works by blocking the release of a chemical in the brain that causes muscle contractions, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin is a purified form of botulinum toxin, meaning it contains no additives or proteins that can cause an allergic reaction. It is also a fast-acting injection, with results typically seen within a few days.

More About Botox

Botox is another type of botulinum toxin type A injection that is FDA approved to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It works by blocking the release of a chemical in the brain that causes muscle contractions, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is a more complex form of botulinum toxin. Botox is a great choice for those who are looking for a more dramatic result.

Summary

Both Xeomin and Botox are effective treatments for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Ultimately, the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and goals. Talk to our practitioner to determine which treatment is right for you.

What's the difference between Toxin (Xeomin/Botox) and fillers?

Toxin is an injectable neuromodulator. This product is injected into the muscle and causes a disruption in the connection between the muscle and the nerve. This means that the nerve fires, but the muscle does not respond. Over 3-4 months the body regenerates this connection between the nerve and muscle and function is regained.

Filler is a product made of hyaluronic acid (and lidocaine). This product is made into a gel that can be injected into areas that are lacking structure. HA Fillers come in a variety of strengths. Softer for areas that do not need a lot of structure, but need to retain a soft feel and appearance. Then others that are stronger that are typically injected deeper to provide structure to areas that have bone or deep fat pad loss. It is common to have a blend of different filler types in a single client’s treatment plan.

How does it work to prevent wrinkles?

Wrinkles are formed by folding of the skin. Folding of the skin is caused by flexing of the muscles. Toxin (Xeomin/Botox) are injected to temporarily weaken or eliminate function of the muscle.
